Apple Maps vs. Google Maps: making the right choice

Tim Hardwick, writing for MacRumors:

Apple Maps has been providing navigational guidance to Apple users for almost 13 and a half years now, and much has changed about the app in that time. However, according to data from Canalys, the overwhelming majority of iPhones in the U.S. still have Google Maps downloaded as an alternative to ‌Apple Maps‌, which comes preinstalled on all iPhones.” […] “Despite these concurrent improvements to Google Maps, their combined effect hasn't stopped users coming away impressed by how far Apple's navigational guidance has come.

I must confess I still have Google Maps installed on my iPhone, even though I haven't used it in years. However, a recent experience using Apple Maps has convinced me that it's the only map app I need. Living in New Jersey for six years, I'm still unfamiliar with many areas. Just the other day, I found myself lost while attempting a shortcut to the Garden State Parkway. Realizing my fuckup, I turned to Apple Maps for guidance, and it navigated me flawlessly to my destination and back home.

It's time to bid farewell to Google Maps.
