Mac browser wars

For the last couple of weeks, I have been trying out some alternate browsers to my staples, Safari and Firefox.

There’s been some hype lately about Brave, and two new browser entries, Arc and Orion, both in beta. So, I thought I would give them a try.

I used Brave as my default browser for a while, and after a few weeks moved back to Safari. No one thing made me stop. It just didn’t feel right for me.

Then I tried Arc. That lasted all of a few hours. I just wasn’t interested in learning a whole new way of using a web browser.

Lastly, I gave Orion another shot. It looks and works a lot like Safari. One thing that might be attractive to Safari users is that Orion works with Firefox and Chrome extensions.

While Brave, Arc, and Orion Browser offer unique features, they fall short when compared to Safari and Firefox. All three have rough edges and small annoyances that I couldn’t get past. Safari and Firefox remain the best browser choices for me.
